Of the many Records that have been achieved with this engine, the one obtained last October 14 by the french pilot Benoit Squizzato is certainly one of the most important. Taking advantage of a day with exceptional weather conditions, Benoit flew his single-seat trike powered by the Moster 185 Plus, release MY20, over a triangle of 521,6 km, crushing the previous record of 457,94 km by the Swedish pilot Roy Hjierten.

The one achieved by Benoit is a Record with a high absolute value; in fact, there are many pilots who every year attempt the maximum distance Record in the FAI triangle in which there is no possibility of landing and filling the tank. Every technical detail becomes indeed important because even the smallest gain is multiplied over the duration of trip and becomes remarkable. The aerodynamic development work involved every component of the aircraft for an overall improvement in fuel consumption and cruising speeds.

Therefore, achieving such a complex record certifies the Moster 185 Plus MY20 as the ideal engine for long XC flights, an engine where performance and reliability are at very high levels.

Thanks to the experience and expertise of our authorized partner Bruno Vezzoli of R-Ultralight, specific settings were also arranged to the stock engine which allowed Benoit to push his trike at an average speed of 66,35 km/h with an average consumption of 5,48 lt/h for 8 hours. Really exciting data that confirms the success of this Record!

Already from the beginning of the year Benoit managed to make several flights over 400 km with his Moster 185 Plus MY20 but had never filed them for approval. When his swedish rival filed a 403 km flight during this summer, Benoit set himself the goal of trying to win the world ranking and began studying longer flights to break the 500 km wall. The flight performed by Benoit is actually even longer than the filed Record; in fact, once the triangle was closed, Benoit still had some extra fuel left and therefore extended his flight by another 11 km for a total of 532,60 km. After the flight, Benoit spent words of praise for the Moster 185 Plus:

"Breaking a Record means taking care of every detail. To achieve this long distance the engine was of decisive importance. The perfect balance between performance and consumption, the sturdiness and the sense of reliability that accompanied me for all those kilometres have been crucial. I can say that Vittorazi has also achieved an impeccable comfort with the MY20 version, an important detail when you are up in the air for more than 8 hours. In a single word? Irreplaceable!".
