Last November 2019 we made a beautiful trip to the city of Luxor in Egypt, together with the pilots Emiko Morota and Nicolas Aubert, for discovering with the paramotor the ancient sites of the Egyptian civilization and fly over them, living a unique experience.
We were invited by the Egyptian company Skysports as an aerial discovery trip to these areas. It was not the first time I was in the country and although I have a lot of experience with travel in African countries, each country has its own characteristics: it’s important to know them to fly there in the right way and without problems.
I have traveled, therefore, well aware of how to make my flight plans and how to pack my luggage. I also knew what kind of equipment was good to use, and also with what requirements. For this reason I chose my Moster 185 Plus by Vittorazi to fly in the area: it is a very versatile engine for many reasons: the weight and ease of transport, the power and reliability.
In a hot country with a lot of desert and low quality fuel, it is the best engine, because it can hold up very well in these difficult conditions. I mounted it on a P.AP. chassis, with a 140 cm Helix propeller. I then took a Niviuk intermediate wing, the Qubik, which allows me to make good pictures with a lot of stability and also a Kougar 3 of the same brand for my more dynamic flights.
As soon as we took off for the first time next to the Valley of the Kings and the palaces of the Queens, we had the feeling that it was a unique experience: so many ancient monuments and so well preserved in such a fascinating area flooded us with emotions.
We wanted to fly over every point and capture it with our cameras, making morning and afternoon flights with the best possible light and conditions.
The engine also performed very well, as expected: never a problem, despite the sand, heat and poor quality fuel.
These were certainly the most interesting moments of our week-long trip, flying over the Nile and the city of Luxor: its temples and ancient avenues create a strong visual contrast with modern buildings, mosques and Christian churches. A real medley of images, impressions and sensations that will remain in our memory forever.
