New World Record: the Cosmos300 exceeds all limits!

Ramon Morillas, Cosmos300 and Vittorazi Motors: “a record-breaking team”. What a feat!

Saturday, December 23rd, 2023. Truly a beautiful gift that comes from Spain to Vittorazi on this day. A date we will never forget. Ramon Morillas, together with Cosmos300, writes a new page in PPG history with an incredible record, on a day full of meaning and value for Vittorazi Motors. December 23 is also the birthday of the company’s founder, Vittoriano Orazi.

The Cosmos300 breaks a new record reaching a stunning altitude of more than 7,200 meters in a foot-launched tandem flight (PF2 category). All this with a standard MY23 Cosmos 300, without any engine tuning dedicated to this feat.

Accomplishing this epic achievement is again him, the record-man, Ramon Morillas, pilot of the Vittorazi Racing Team, multiple world champion with several records behind him. Accompanying him on this adventure as a passenger is Carlos Peña. 

Achieving these results requires courage, training, and an engine that remains reliable and performing during all phases of flight: 

“It was incredible, I didn’t expect to be able to climb so high in the tandem flight. When I reached 6,000 meters I felt I had accomplished a real feat, it was freezing and I thought we might turn back. We held on and reached an altitude of 6,500 and I thought that if we gritted our teeth we might even reach 7,000 meters. When I saw the altitude of 7,200 meters on the GPS, I realized the majesty of this feat. Remarkably, the engine never missed a beat during the entire flight, overcoming the -30°C temperature and the significant reduction in atmospheric pressure at altitude. The Cosmos300 is truly an extraordinary engine.” 

Thus there appear to be as many as two records achieved on this flight:

          – minimum time to gain 6,000 meters (tandem flight, foot launch – PF2);

          – altitude record over 7,200 meters (tandem flight, foot takeoff – PF2);

Certain achievements are not reached by accident. The journey that has brought Ramon Morillas this far is a life-long journey. A lifetime of dedication and love for flying and PPG. It takes a winning DNA, a desire to experiment, and always taking on new challenges-the same DNA that characterizes Vittorazi Motors.

This feat stems from an unbreakable relationship that has linked Ramon to the Montecosaro company since the beginning of his career, a relationship that continues to break every record and every limit, with superlative man-machine performance that goes beyond any calculation and any kind of bench test.

The added value of these records can also be appreciated from the numbers at hand: the Green brothers’ previous record set in 2015 (Link to article), with Moster185 plus engine, was at an altitude of 5,066 meters. The new record goes beyond the previous record of 2,000 meters. In the coming days, all flight data will be sent to the FÉDÉRATION AÉRONAUTIQUE INTERNATIONALE for approval, but the majesty of this feat is already evident. While waiting for the data to be made official by the F.A.I, we would like to mention (link to article) the current still unbeaten records set by Ramon Morillas and Cosmos300 of Vittorazi Motors, in the PL1 (single-seat paratrike) category:

          – Maximum altitude record: 7,334 meters 

          – Minimum time to gain 6,000 meters, 57 min 30 sec.
