I went to Turkey in 2018 with my team mate Tom de Dorlodot and the SEARCH projects crew.
As they say: “In SEARCH of secret flying spots” and sure they did! We were flying a 70km dry salty lake, the beautiful natural spring pools of Pamukale and the amazing rocky formations of Cappadocia with our paramotors, between many other beautiful areas.
I remember that time we were sure that Paramotor was going to be crucial to fly some of the most beautiful areas we had in front. I knew that having the best engine would make the difference.
We were going to fly in remote places, where having a little problem could become into having a BIG problem. Moster 185 was in my mind for this project from the beginning, I needed power, but with a good compromise in weight and of course reliability.
Together with the P.AP. Tinox chassis, I had a prefect balanced, reliable and comfortable paramotor in my back.
We started the “Search Turkey” with Lake Tuz. Can you imagine a lake of 70km length of salty water completely dry? Kilometres and kilometres of crystalized salt, where some islands with vegetation where appearing from time to time. It was unreal and beautiful, different from anything we had seen before. Flying there we had the impression of flying in another planet. It was a perfect place to play with the precision of the engine power, to drift with your shoes all around!
But something greater was coming… Pamukale!
An ancient Greco-Roman city, well known for his natural thermal springs forming hundreds of consecutive pools.
Who would like to see this view from above and play with the pools? We did, and believe me, there is no way to have a more beautiful playground!
To end the “Search Turkey” we went to Cappadocia, historically it was a very important region in the past years as well, but the most incredible is how the city is dug in the stones!
The rocky formations are truly incredible there, and we could play flying every corner, saying ‘hi’ to the tourist from above and of course, flying in between hundreds of hot air ballons…
For sure this was the perfect way to end up with the trip. And for sure we will go back one day!
