It is always the desire to go beyond the limit that leads to unprecedented results. In those moments when adrenaline certainly plays an important role but in which the engine, as well as performance and technology, are fundamental to achieve new goals and incredible records.
That between Vittorazi and Bös is an important partnership which started a few years ago, when the pilot immediately recognized the great innovation and performance of Vittorazi engines and enthusiastically joined the pilots team.
German, owner of ParaMotor Germany, XC enthusiast and one of the only 6 pilots in the world flying with the Moster 185 featured with the innovative EFI technology, Benedikt Bös on Saturday 12 March set a fantastic personal record by completing a 403 km FAI triangle in 7h and 22 minutes – improving the one he set in 2021 by as many as 50 km.
A flight that wasn’t originally planned, as he reported, which led him to face an adverse weather situation with unfavorable wind and a landscape that was not easy to fly across like that of southern Germany.
The weather conditions were not optimal, how did you get through the 7 hours flight and how did the EFI technology help you in your performance?
“The wind was very strong, in the first 100 km I was quite fast but, after the first turning point, the wind direction was not as expected and I definitely needed more power from the engine. To be able to fly in that kind of conditions it was important to be fuel efficient and this was definitely a big advantage that EFI technology has given me.
In this area the landscape conditions change rapidly during a 400 km flight and therefore I was often forced to climb 1000ms, but the EFI system took care of all these parameters and adapted to the situation by itself, returning to maximum efficiency while maintaining power and reliability”.
Which kind of feeling did you have with the Moster 185 EFI during your flight?
“Flying with my EFI was very satisfying and relaxing. I didn’t need to think about the engine so much because it’s like having a co-pilot on board with me who was taking care of many things”.
What is your favorite feature on the Moster 185 EFI?
“Picking one out is not that easy because it offers indeed so many advantages! One thing I really like about EFI is the fact that I can see a lot of important data on the display both in flight and on the ground. For me, as both a competition pilot and an adventure flight lover, it’s a really exciting tool. Not to mention the new MY22 release of the Moster 185, really balanced and even more suitable for these long flights”.
How do you feel about being one of the only 6 pilots in the world to have the opportunity to fly with Vittorazi EFI technology?
“It’s both a honor and a privilege. It’s definitely an extra motivation to put maximum effort in each of my flights and contribute to the technical development of this unprecedented and innovative technology”.
We know you are planning some new adventure in Italy! What’s up your sleeve?
“Yes, I will make my next trip to Italy indeed by the end of April. I will be very close to Vittorazi Headquarter and the airfield in Fermo with a very dear friend and a group of pilots for a week during which we will train XC and Performance flight techniques.
I can’t wait to make a cross country flight with those pilots and show them the beauty of Le Marche region during relaxed flights above the coast line and adventurous flights over the Sibillini Mountains.
…of course I am going to have EFI on my back”.
