After becoming a Fly Products Team pilot in the summer 2019, I had only a few weeks to break in my brand new Vittorazi Moster 185 Plus and get a perfect team with my new engine.
To be able to do exact calculations at the competitions it’s important to know for example which rpm your engine is running at certain TAS speeds. As I also had to do some tandems in the summer, so I couldn’t focus completely on competition training but the engine made it really easy.
In the middle of August I competed at the British Open Paramotor Championships 2019 which is a new mix format which brings he best together from classic and endurance competitions.
Usually the pilots were allowed to fly 5h per day in a time window of 7am to 7pm followed by some precision tasks like spot and bowling landings.
In the regular airtime the pilots can choose individually if they want to focus on pure turn point hunting or to fly different tasks like “declared speed precision navigation” or “constant speed precision navigation” tasks.
So, to be effective it’s good to make long flights cause you always loose time at takeoff/landing and on the way to the first turn points/start points of the tasks. This means that you need an engine that you can fly on a low fuel consumption to make long flights, but also to have no thermal problems when flying long time in high rpm with open trim and full speed bar.
I had the pleasure to get a Moster 185 Plus with a modification that allows me to adjust my carburetor in the air with a knob on the Swing arm of my Fly Products Rider.
In the 4 days of the competition I achieved the highest total flight time of all participants and thanks to a very good precision in navigation and declared times I was happy to achieve the Overall Rankings 1st place with my reliable and powerful Moster 185 Plus.
I hope this was just the beginning and I’m really looking forward to future competitions and adventures with this engine.
The great weight to power ratio mixed with a reliable and thermal stable engine body makes flying competitions even more fun than it was before to me.
